-::- FREE FIC! -::-

We, a variety of people from FIC, hereby demand the following:

We demand cooperation from Andy. While we respect you as the chat owner, and while we appreciate your creation, events in the past few days have made certain that ALL rules up to this point (with the exception of the "most important" one) must be abandoned. (Read below for a more eloquently worded demand).

We do NOT recognize or acknowledge the authority of the moderators, and demand a public apology from Adam for his behavior against other chatters!

We demand that Ezy, former moderator and now the leader of both the Inquisition and the Free FIC movements, be unbanned from FIC and that he negotiate directly with Andy concerning our demands.

What would cause a moderator to change sides?!

Ezy, FIC's first moderator and the self-proclaimed spiritual representative of the now-defunct PSC (Psycho's Sonic Chat), has been banned from FIC due to his disregard of authority. We support him fully in this, and encourage all other chatters to also defy these authorities. THEIR TYRANNY MUST BE ENDED!

Ezy wrote the following in support of FREE FIC:

"In the effort to protect the foundations of this chat, it was long ago considered a vital necessity to not only create a separation of OOC and IC chatting, but to ensure that the then-superfluous moderators would enforce that separation. I was the first moderator to make substantial motions to enforce that separation, with a zeal which was both immature and short-sighted. After my one-day resignation, I came back with a renewed energy and fervor, knowing full well that what I was accomplishing was correct, that what would come of this separation would be both positive and long-lasting. Other moderators came on the scene, generally having more clout and sway with the chatters, and I eventually went into the shadows.

"The positives of this separation are obvious - roleplay became a priority, and OOC pursuits were primarily limited to other venues (i.e. AIM). However, I was perhaps not as naive as regards the separation. I knew full well that the OOC chat would be sparsely utilized. At the same moment, I held out hope that the qualitiy of roleplay would continue to go up.

"While I still hold this optimism, it has become increasingly clear that there is a barrier. The purpose of my original movement, the Inquisition, was to discover that barrier more than to simply break it. Acting under the hypothesis that certain chatters were to blame, I tested and experimented, eventually realizing that this was not the case. The hypothesis then moved to focus on certain pillars of authority, but this was found to be a narrow vision. Therefore, I have concluded, without a shadow of a doubt, that the entire elite institution is the barrier involved with this mediocrity, and it is only reasonable to request that this barrier be removed.

"Moderators must exist in order to maintain order in these absolute extremes, in a time of tranquility, which this current time is not. Moderators are useful for destroying flooders and other such pests, and to lend weight against ridiculous chatters. However, they must be bound by a loose written law, and a strict community duty. The current moderators have neither of these two.

"I am perhaps not as forceful with the notion that everyone ought to defy these authorities, and yet I do not discourage it. If action is to be taken, then let it be taken swiftly. Do not hesitate to enact change to its extremes."
